Chicago Police are investigating a violent home invasion on Fullerton Parkway in the Lincoln Park neighborhood Wednesday morning.
Chicago police, firefighters and paramedics responded just after 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2019 to a report of a home invasion robbery with a woman injured at the Beachwalk Apartments, 420 West Fullerton Parkway, just west of Lincoln Park Zoo.
Chicago police received a report that the 32-year-old woman was inside her apartment when she heard a knock on the door. When she answered her door, three male offenders pushed their way into the apartment. All three offenders were armed with a gun.
Police said she answered the door even though the offenders covered the peep hole while knocking, according to a police source.
Once inside the apartment, the offenders repeatedly slapped and hit her on her head and face. They also hit her on the head with an unknown object.
One male offender held the victim against the wall while the other two offenders searched the apartment, according to Chicago Police.
According to police, at least one offender asked, “Where is the money? We know you have money here.”
When she responded that she didn’t have any money, one of them put his gun inside her mouth and asked, “Do you want to die today?” He then said, “We should shoot her and leave.”
The woman was then forced to lay face down on the bed where she was handcuffed and had her mouth taped shut. The source said the men told her not to move or look at them and they would be back.
The men went on to steal miscellaneous items from the apartment, took her purse and wallet, a laptop, and a ceramic container filled with cash. When the offenders fled the apartment, the victim ran to a neighbor’s apartment to get help after the violent robbery. The neighbor was able to remove the handcuffs.
Police arrived and determined the offenders had fled, and that the scene was secure. Chicago Fire Department paramedics assessed and treated the woman at the scene, and transported her to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The victim’s condition was described as ‘stabilized.’
Area North detectives were investigating the crime, and no suspects were initially in custody.
The suspects are described as …
#1) Male, African American, 35-40 years old, between 5’ 4” to 5’ 5”, 150 to 175 LBS with brown eyes and black hair in braids, wearing black pants, a black shirt, black shoes and a gold necklace.
