Following a shooting incident on Sunday September 8, 2019 at about 11:44 a.m., Schaumburg police detectives determined the shooting victim was involved in a dispute with suspect Jacob M. Taylor. An on-scene investigation occurred until mid-afternoon Sunday, and the investigation was ongoing the past several weeks by Schaumburg Police Department investigators. On Friday, October 18, 2019 Jacob M. Taylor surrendered himself to detectives.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office reviewed the case and
authorized the charge of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony)
Jacob M. Taylor was described as a male/black, age 19, residing in the block of 1900 Brookside Lane, Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
Jacob M. Taylor was scheduled to be transported to Bond Court at 26th and California, Chicago today, Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. At bond court, a judge ordered Jacob M. Taylor held in Cook County Jail on $750,000 bail. Taylor’s next scheduled court date is Friday, October 25, 2019. The Class 1 felony is punishable by four to 15 years in prison, if he’s convicted.

Following the discovery by Schaumburg police of the victim — a 26 year-old male victim who was shot in the legs — Schaumburg firefighter/paramedics were dispatched about 11:49 AM Sunday September 8, 2019 to the scene. The incident was initially reported to police as a disturbance at Bode Road and Knollwood Drive Schaumburg, IL. Police received a report of the disturbance from a caller not involved in the disturbance. Upon arrival police discovered the shooting victim outside near the intersection in a parking lot of a strip mall. The victim was treated at the scene and transported by Schaumburg firefighter/paramedics to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
Immediately after the shooting, Schaumburg police declared that the shooting initially appeared to be an isolated incident.
