A police chase started in Genoa City, Wisconsin and crossed the state line, and ended with a fatal single-vehicle crash.
Police and firefighter/paramedics from Antioch responded about 7:34 p.m. Sunday October 20, 2019 to a report of a serious crash with entrapment and vehicle fire at Route 173 west of Converse Road and the Fox River. Initial reports indicate a police pursuit occurred before the crash, traveling approximately 8 miles from Genoa City, Wisconsin to the crash site in Antioch. Police were attempting to stop the driver following observation of a traffic violation. Initially it was unknown if the driver was wanted for any other police matter.

Identities Released of Two People Killed in Crash Involving Police Pursuit in Fox Lake Near Antioch
The vehicle that was being pursued was eastbound on Route 173 and was in Fox Lake approaching Antioch Township and Antioch when the driver lost control near a slight curve in the roadway. The vehicle left the roadway on the north side and struck a tree and began to smoke and become fully-involved with fire. The driver was killed and two passengers in the vehicle were critically injured.
Fire dispatch indicated police reported a vehicle fire with entrapment with one person inside the vehicle and two total patients. Antioch Engine 211’s crew on arrival indicated a vehicle off the roadway, fully involved with fire, west of Converse Road in Fox Lake’s fire district by 7:40 p.m. Police were attempting to extinguish the vehicle fire with extinguishers before firefighters arrived.
A third ambulance was requested by 7:43 p.m. Firefighter/paramedics on scene reported three patients at the scene.
The crash was located about 1500 feet west of Converse Road. A fire department tanker truck was also requested to the scene to assist with extinguishing the vehicle fire.
The Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was called to the scene to assist with the investigation.
