Long Grove Fire Protection District firefighter/paramedics and Cook County Sheriff’s Deputies responded about 11:45 AM Friday October 4, 2019 to a report of an apartment fire at Whispering Winds apartments, 4013 Bonhill Drive Long Grove, Il. Firefighter/paramedics from Ambulance 55 were first on the scene and reported a fire on the second floor of a 3-story apartment building. Long Grove command reported a kitchen fire that was “controlled somewhat” by two dry chem extinguishers. Firefighters extinguished the remaining fire with water from a hoseline by 11:49 a.m.
One adult and one child were evaluated by firefighter/paramedics.
The fire was declared out by 12:27 p.m. The primary and secondary searches for victims were complete and negative by 12:27 p.m. Firefighters also inspected kitchen for extension of fire.
Long Grove firefighters were assisted by firefighters from Arlington Heights, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Deerfield-Bannockburn, Lake Zurich, Palatine, and Prospect Heights.
Most firefighters cleared the scene by about 1:29 p.m.
