Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson on Thursday October 17, 2019 asked the Chicago Police Department to conduct an internal investigation on himself after he was found by a passerby lying down in a car.
The passerby called 911 out of concern of his early morning discovery of the police superintendent. Chicago police officers checked on Johnson’s well-being and didn’t observe any signs of impairment. Johnson, age 59, then drove himself home.
Guglielmi says Johnson requested the investigation because he believes officers and the superintendent “ought to be held to the highest standard.” Guglielmi also said Johnson had visited a doctor earlier this week regarding a medication change, and said the superintendent expressed concerns about feeling exhausted yesterday.
Johnson underwent a successful kidney transplant surgery in August 30, 2017 at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. His son Daniel, then age 25, was the donor. The surgical procedures were performed by Dr. Martin Hertl and Dr. Edward Hollinger and their surgical teams.
Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson was found slumped over in his car this morning, sources say. It was likely due to a medical issue, according to top sources. https://t.co/gbC8xMyhOo
