A 28-year-old woman was shot at Milwaukee Avenue and Lake Street in the Fulton River District by an unknown offender wearing a black mask on a bike Wednesday.

Chicago police, firefighter, and paramedics responded just abefore noon Wednesday September 18, 2019 to a report that a woman was shot by an offender on a bicycle. Four or five people helped the 28 year-old female shooting victim before medics arrived. The woman’s injuries are initially believed to be non-life-threatening.

The shooter was described as a male with a dark complexion, wearing a black baseball cap, a dark T-shirt and dark pants, and light-colored gym shoes. He was also wearing a backpack.

The gunman fled on his bicycle northwest on Milwaukee Avenue on his bicycle. The bicycle was black or a dark color and was possibly a mountain bike.

The woman suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was transported to Level I Trauma Center Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She underwent surgery Wednesday afternoon and her condition was described as stabilized.
