Eddie Money, a Top 40 Hits star and top favorite at Arlington Heights Frontier Day Festival, died Friday morning September 13, 2019, suffering complications of esophageal cancer. He died at his home at the age of 70.
His family said, “The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. Eddie Money revealed his diagnosis of during Season 2 of his reality show, “Real Money.” Eddie got the heartbreaking news late last year following a physical examination by physicians.
A bout with pneumonia during recovery from heart valve surgery caused Eddie Money to cancel his summer tour in July 2019. He was planning to restart his summer tour, but he was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer during a follow-up “routine checkup.”
Eddie Money and his band entertained with top performances multiple times at Frontier Days — Recreation Park’s Fourth of July holiday festival — before full-capacity crowds.
