Texas Governor Greg Abbott and state authorities confirmed that 20 people are dead and 26 are injured following the tragic shooting in El Paso, Texas.

Emergency calls to 911 reporting an active shooter began to be received by dispatchers about 10:39 AM MDT, and first responders began to arrive within 6 minutes of the initial call.
Thirteen victims were transported to the University Medical Center of El Paso. Two children, ages 2 and 9, were stabilized at the University Medical Center of El Paso, and were transferred to the neighboring El Paso Children’s Hospital.
Eleven victims were transported to Del Sol Medical Center. The Del Sol Medical Center patients are 35 to 82 years old.
Three Mexican citizens were killed. Six Mexican citizen were wounded.
Shortly after the shooting scene was secured, police began a homicide investigation and were assisted by the ATF, FBI, US Customers and Border Protection, El Paso Sheriff’s Department, and Texas Department of Public Safety. Police determined that 20 people died in the shooting and 26 were injured. The state of Texas will be the lead agency. The FBI will be investigating whether a hate crime occurred.
The shooter is identified as Patrick Crusius, a 21 year-old white male from Allen, Texas, which is about 650 miles east of El Paso. The shooter surrendered to approaching police officers on Sunmount Drive on the west side of the Walmart.
Social media pictures of an AK-47 were released on social media, but police have not confirmed wether the suspect is connected to the image of the AK-47.
There is mention of an anti-immigration manifesto that authorities are saying and media are reporting may be linked to the suspect. Police have briefly discussed the manifesto, but have not confirmed the authenticity of the manifesto.
El Paso with a population over 680,000 is located on the Rio Grande across the Mexico–United States border from Ciudad Juárez, which is the largest city in the Mexican state of Chihuahua with 1.4 million people.
