Scene immediately after shootout in Walmart parking lot, Rolling Meadows (Note: male in handcuffs is NOT confirmed as a suspect at any time).
Rolling Meadows police have arrested a 28-year-old Indianapolis male offender, Christopher Walker, suspected as the shooter offender in the Saturday June 15, 2019 shooting in the Rolling Meadows Walmart parking lot, 1460 Golf Road. Rolling Meadows police detectives apprehended Walker on a warrant this fourth week of August.
Christopher Walker is scheduled for a court appearance Friday afternoon August 23, 2019 at the Cook County courthouse where a judge is expected to set bond at a hearing.
Walker was transported in custody to the Rolling Meadows police station Thursday, August 22, 2019 for booking of a charge of aggravated battery with a firearm. Walker was charged July 26, 2019 and police obtained a warrant for his arrest. The charge is a felony potentially punishable by six to 30 years in prison.
Investigators had leads for several locations for the suspect, but Walker’s family ties to Indianapolis prioritized one particuar lead, and Christopher Walker was apprehended in Indianapolis.
Police accused Walker of shooting at another man at about 4:35 p.m. Saturday June 15, 2019 during an altercation that erupted during a custody exchange of a child near the north end of Walmart’s parking lot near Golf and Algonquin roads. An exchange of gunfire ensued and several customer or employe vehicles parked in the lot were struck by bullets.
A 24-year-old male victim returned fire, but Rolling Meadows Police Department didn’t charge him because they determined he fired back in self-defense. He suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with a wound and was stabilized. The long-term effects of the injury were not released publicly.
The role of a third male who was seen handcuffed and detained by police after the shootout is unknown. He was apparently detained for investigation and not a suspect.
