Police and firefighter/paramedics were on the scene about 9:00 p.m. Tuesday August 27, 2019 for a crash at Woodfield Road and West Frontage Road that was reported by another police agency that was on the scene. No police units were involved in the crash. Initially one person was thought to have fled the scene on foot or was unaccounted for, but police were able to find the person they were looking for at the scene.
A white sedan had heavy front end damage and was located in the eastbound lanes of Woodfield Road, and another sedan was located at the southeast corner of W. Frontage Rd. and Woodfield Road with significant damage. The vehicle on the southeast corner also hit a traffic signal pole.
At least one person was evaluated by firefighter/paramedics, but paramedics did not transport anyone to the hospital.
Police — possibly from the outside police agency — were gathering evidence up on the shoulder of Route 53. Schaumburg police were investigating the crash scene, since the crash occurred in the Village of Schaumburg. Police with a K-9 unit and police carrying long guns were also active at this scene. Illinois State Police troopers were also on the scene.
Details about the exact reason the outside police agency was in Schaumburg was initially unknown.
There were no arrests at the scene, but one driver was issued a traffic citation.
