Schaumburg police responded about 12:20 PM Friday August 16, 2019 of a theft at Nordstrom at Woodfield, 6 Woodfield Mall Schaumburg, IL. Police received a report that about eleven unknown offenders took women’s purses and handbags near the south entrance of the Nordstrom entrance connected to the covered parking garage.
The suspects entered and exited the south entrance of Nordstrom into Level 1 of the covered parking garage.
All purses were displayed on a chrome rack less than 25 feet from the doorway were taken.
The suspects were described as 11 male/black and male/Hispanic subjects wearing surgical mask, gloves and hoodies.
The suspects fled in a black Dodge SUV and a white Volkswagen — possibly a 2010 Jetta. The vehicles were last seen eastbound on Woodfield Road and then southbound on Route 53.
The Dodge was possibly a 2018 model stolen on August 11, 2019.
Three witnesses said the suspects moved very fast and didn’t say anything. The witnesses said the offenders came into the handbag area via the south entrance, and immediately fled out the south entrance into the parking garage.
A witness said MCM purses and handbags on the chrome rack were valued at a total value of about $16,000. MCM woman’s bags range in price from about $625 to $1750, according to the MCM official website.
Multiple offender crimes are considered a “robbery” because of the implied force possible from multiple offenders.
The crime is reported to have occurred at 12:20 p.m.
