Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:50 PM Wednesday August 28, 2019 to a report of a construction crew that hit a gas main near 1375 East Central Road Arlington Heights, Il. Firefighter/paramedics on arrival reported hearing the gas main leak hissing and reported high levels of gas on a detection device (measurement 100% LEL).
Evacuation of some residences possible nearby starting about 5:00 p.m. Nicor is responding to the scene. Engine 3’s crew reported that a 1-inch orange line was hit.
The National Weather Station at O’Hare International Airport reported wind from the West at 22 MPH and gusting to 31 MPH at 4:51 p.m.
