Arlington Heights firefighters responded about 9:01 PM to report of a gas odor inside an apartment building in the block of 4100 North Bloomington Avenue in Arlington Heights. Firefighters investigated the source of the odor and detected a strong odor of gas coming from an apartment unit on the first floor. Firefighters with the help of apartment maintenance entered the first floor unit and found a gas burner had been left on without a flame.
Firefighter shut off the burner and ventilated the affected areas in the apartment building.
