Cardinal News is looking for photos of the white and dark-colored smoke, vapor and steam plume from the semi-trailer truck fire at the Multi-Pak Solutions location (1804 West Central Road Mount Prospect), viewing south from a point north of Northwest Highway and north of the fire scene Wednesday night (NOTIFY). Example locations where people may have noticed the plume would include the Stonegate neighborhood and east to Prospect High School, Culver’s, Chicago Swim School, Mobil Gas Station (Rand and Euclid), Meadows Park in Mount Prospect, Kensington Road east of Dryden, and Davis Street.
North-south streets that were most-likely affected with significant smoke conditions as the plume passed from southwest to northeast were Gibbons Avenue, Forrest Avenue, Prindle Avenue, Phelps Avenue, Waterman Avenue, Donald Avenue, Rammer Avenue, Dale Avenue and McArthur Boulevard.
Northwest Central Dispatch System — the 9-1-1 Center for Arlington Heights and many nearby northwest suburbs — was directly in the path of the smoke and vapors from the semi-trailer truck fire.
According to the official National Weather Service report at O’Hare International Airport, the wind direction and wind speed at the time of the fire was southwest at 7 MPH.
Mount Prospect Fire Department responded to two reported fire incidents at Multi-Pak Solutions on Wednesday August 7, 2019. The first incident was reported about 6:08 a.m. The second incident was reported about 9:43 p.m., and was a much more serious fire with significant smoke involving a semi-trailer truck fire. Initially there have been no press releases or social media alerts from Mount Prospect Fire Department or the Village of Mount Prospect about the fire and smoke conditions or the contents in the semi-trailer truck that was burning.
