Three crashes in Arlington Heights around Illinois Speed Awareness Day — two before Speed Awareness Day and one on Speed Awareness Day.
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded to two crashes Tuesday afternoon and one rollover crash on Speed Awareness Day Wednesday afternoon.
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:48 p.m. on Tuesday July 23, 2019 on Palatine Road to a report of a two-vehicle crash just east of Rand Road (US 12) at a Southpoint shopping center driveway. The driveway is a difficult driveway to exit, especially when turning left to go westbound on Palatine Road. The area is also difficult to travel this summer because of extensive construction on Palatine Road. During the crash and traffic management, eastbound Palatine Road was blocked east of Rand Road.
Next, Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:08 p.m. on Tuesday July 23, 2019 at Northwest Highway (US 14) and Euclid Avenue to a two-vehicle crash with reported injuries. The crash occurred during heavy traffic condition, but all directions of travel were kept open by at least one lane except for eastbound Euclid Avenue west of Northwest Highway. Eastbound Euclid Avenue traffic was detoured to southbound Kennicott Avenue. Traffic from northbound Kennicott Avenue was not permitted to turn right to go eastbound on Kennicott Avenue.
On Speed Awareness Day in Illinois, Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday July 23, 2019 to a personal injury rollover crash at a driveway for Northpoint shopping center on Rand Road just east of Arlington Heights Road. A sedan and a small SUV were involved in the crash. The SUV was rolled on its driver’s side in the shopping center driveway. Traffic flow in both directions of Rand Road remained open, while the driveway was closed until the vehicles were towed from the scene.
Injuries were no initially believed to be serious injuries in any of the three crashes.
