Desoto County Sheriff’s deputies and Southaven Police Department police officers responded early Tuesday to the Southaven Walmart, 6811 Southcrest Parkway, Southaven, Mississippi near I-55 and Goodman Road to a report of a shooting.
A perimeter around the Walmart property was established and no access to the property was permitted immediately after the shooting. Employees are also being held at the property for investigation. There is an early report that the shooter may be a disgruntled employee at Walmart, but this is initially not confirmed by authorities.
One person is reported killed, and at least two people were wounded by gunfire. One of the wounded is reported to be a police officer. There is a report of multiple injuries, but all the injuries are not confirmed to be gunshot wounds.
