In case you didn’t figure it out yourself already, today’s actual weather is way off the mark from yesterday’s forecast. The overnight low Wednesday/Thursday was in the low 70s, which was the first hint that heat would not be building today. Thunderstorms that were expected about 1:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. early Thursday didn’t arrive until 6:30 a.m., when the sun would have begun heating the day. An Excessive Heat Warning issued yesterday afternoon, which was supposed to go into effect today, has been pushed back to a start time of 10:00 am. CDT Friday July 2019. The Excessive Heat Warning will remain in effect until Saturday July 20, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. The overnight low Thursday/Friday is forecast to be about 78°F.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows storms moving off to the east at 12:25 p.m. Existing small storm cells to the west of our area are diminishing as hot and dry is beginning to win over cool and wet.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue through the early-afternoon. This activity will delay both the onset and magnitude of today’s heat, with the highest heat indices mainly south of I-80. Cooler conditions will exist near the lakeshore. #ILwx #INwx pic.twitter.com/2LHJ79qxcU
