Lake County Sheriff’s Marine Unit responded about 12:42 p.m. Sunday July 14, 2019 to Lake Marie between Antioch and Fox Lake to a report of a person struck by a boat propeller.
Preliminary investigation discovered the victim, an 18-year-old male, of Palatine, was riding on the bow of a 2005 Premier Marine Pontoon Boat, outside of the area designated for passengers. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported the pontoon was in motion while the passenger was in an area he wasn’t supposed to be. The teenager fell off the pontoon boat, and his leg was struck by the pontoon’s propeller.
The male teen was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries, but the injuries are initially believed to be non-life-threatening.
The pontoon’s operator, Yinxiang Wang, 45, of the block of 21300 West Windsor Drive, Kildeer, was cited for carless operation of a watercraft for operating the boat while a passenger was in a non-designated passenger area.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
