A pregnant woman was among two people stabbed after an altercation in the Loop near Millennium Park.
Chicago police, firefighters and paramedics responded about 11:30 p.m. Saturday July 6, 2019 to a report of two people stabbed on Washington Street near Wabash Avenue and near Michigan Avenue.
A man and a pregnant woman were stabbed just west of Millennium Park.
Police said six people, waiting for a ride share, were standing near the block of 100 East Washington Street about 11:30 p.m. Saturday when the driver of a car pulled up that was not their ride share. Police said a fight broke out.
Police said they believe the group of people, who got in the car, knew the driver of the car. Police said the driver stabbed a 26-year-old man, and a pregnant woman in her late twenties that were part of the group.
The stabbing may have involved a robbery attempt of the pregnant woman, who was transported to Level I Trauma Center Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. The man was also to transported to Northwestern, where he was listed in serious condition.
Initially the driver was not in custody, but police say they know the identity of the driver.
