Male arrested, transported to hospital after crash on ramp from southbound Route 53 to westbound Palatine Road in Palatine.
Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:15 AM Saturday July 13, 2019 to an unknown investigation of a subject at Route 53 and Palatine Road Palatine, IL. A witness in the neighborhood reported it looked like the motorist was resisting police. Firefighter/paramedics were called to the scene for a motorist injured on the ramp from southbound Route 53 to westbound Palatine Road. The scene had the looks that suggested a foot pursuit occurred from the ramp crash to the frontage road that connects Winston Drive to Wilke Road just west of the Palatine Road and Route 53 interchange.
A male/black subject was transferred from a police SUV to a paramedic gurney. The male appeared to be handcuffed. He was apparently transported in custody to Northwest Community Hospital with a police SUV following the Palatine ambulance.
Initially it was unknown whether police were following the suspect in the white sedan from another location or whether contact was made at the ramp. Also unknown was whether there were any other subjects associated with the sedan. There did not appear to be any search involved. Police did place two beverage bottles on the roof of the white sedan during their investigation.
A DUI alert was called out shortly before this incident, but there was no known connection between the two incidents.
