Severe thunderstorms could develop quickly with severe lightning, hail and damaging winds. Although thunderstorms are not a sure thing for all areas in northeast Illinois, there could be dangerous lightning. The greatest chance for storms is between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Temperatures were already in the mid-80s by 10:00 a.m., in the upper 80s by 11:00 a.m., and 90°F by noon with dew points in the low 70s and rising or holding since 5:50 a.m. Wednesday morning July 10, 2019.
Temperatures were mild overnight Tuesday/Wednesday, holding in the upper 70s all night with a balmy southwest breeze.
Although no heat advisories or warnings were activated by the National Weather Service as of 12:15 p.m., emergency medical calls for heat illnesses and power outages are likely to increase today.
