A Low Pressure system is scooting by over Tennessee and Kentucky which is pushing out rain in a counterclockwise manner in our area. The NOAA GOES Satellite view of clouds and local radar for Chicago confirms the counterclockwise motion. Persistent rain will probably be south of our area, but a sprinkle or brief shower with mostly cloudy conditions are possible in Arlington Heights and the northwest suburbs. Predicting no precipitation or a scattered hit by a thundershower is challenging. If there is any lightning and thunder it is more likely after 1:00 p.m. in the form of a scattered thundershower. Otherwise winds will be light from the east-northeast and no rain — we’re on the edge. A cold front is moving in with northwest winds after midnight that won’t get gusty until about 5:00 a.m.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows precipitation mostly in east central Illinois and Indiana south of Chicago, but swinging up southeast to northwest.
