Cook County Sheriff’s Detectives Believe There May Be Additional Victims
A 27-year-old male resident of Schaumburg, Ryan Patterson, has been charged and was in custody after a Cook County Sheriff’s Police investigation found that he sexually assaulted a woman in a forest preserve, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Police.
Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 the occurrence of sexual assault that occurred on the Thursday after Memorial Day.
According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Police, at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Thursday May 30, 2019, a 48-year-old Streamwood woman was on a trail in the Arthur L. Janura Forest Preserve, near Hoffman Estates, when a man attacked her and threw her cell phone into a wooded area. He then dragged her into a wooded area, where he sexually assaulted her. Arthur L. Janura Forest Preserve is located near Bartlett Road and Golf Road, just north of Streamwood and west of Hoffman Estates.
During the course of their investigation, Sheriff’s Police detectives identified the offender as Ryan Patterson. He was taken into custody on June 11, 2019 and was charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated kidnapping.
Ryan Patterson’s bond was set at $150,000-D on Wednesday at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse.
Based on the investigation, Sheriff’s Police detectives believe there may be additional victims. Arthur L. Janura Forest Preserve is also located just north of Streamwood High School and also near the intersections of Bartlett Road and Bode Road, and Bartlett Road and Schaumburg Road. The forest preserve extends east to Barrington Road across from Hoffman Village shopping center, and north to Higgins Road and to Interstate 90. The forest preserve extends west to the Canadian Northern railroad line where neighborhoods in Hoffman Estates, Hanover Township, and Elgin exist across the tracks. The southern boundary of the forest preserve is mostly Schaumburg Road and Bode Road.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Police reminded the public that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
Patterson is out on bond.
