Lake Forest police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:02 a.m. Tuesday June 25, 2019 to a report that a road construction worker assigned as a flagger was hit by a road grinder on southbound Route 41 south of Old Elm Road.
On arrival police and firefighter/paramedics discovered that the worker was struck by a dump truck, and was dead at the scene in front of Lou’s Garage on the south side of Lake Forest.
Investigators initially determined that the worker had been struck by a dump truck that was backing up during road construction operations. The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team and the Lake County Coroners office responded to the scene to assist the Lake Forest Police Department with the investigation of the crash.
The identity of the victim was not initially released. The Lake County Coroner’s office is expected to release the victim’s identity after notification of immediately family.
