SWAT teams surrounded a northwest suburban apartment building overnight, after two people were found shot in the parking lot. CBS 2’s Audrina Bigos reports.
Cook County Sheriff’s deputies and North Maine FPD firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:19 p.m. Wednesday June 4, 2019 to a report of a victim with a gunshot wound on Linda Lane near Oak Place in unincorporated Des Plaines. Two people were wounded in a shooting in unincorporated Des Plaines Tuesday night, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office said.
Cook County Sheriff’s police deputies first on the scene reported a second victim at the scene. A male victim and a female victim who were both found shot in the apartment complex. A Des Plaines ambulance was dispatched to the scene as the second ambulance.
Both victims were transported to a hospital for treatment. Both victims were alert and conscious, and were hospitalized overnight into Wednesday morning.
Initially there was a report that the armed offender was possibly still on the scene and may have been barricaded inside one of the units in the complex, police said. A Hostage, Barricade and Terrorist (HBT) team was called to the scene and made entry to the apartment unit, but no one was located inside.
Cook County Sheriff’s Police are investigating the shootings.
