Chicago police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:30 AM Friday June 7, 2019 to a report of a commercial building fire at 11201 South Michigan Avenue Chicago, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of commercial building fire at 112th St and Edgebrooke Avenue, where fire was showing out of the back of the building. Heavy fire was also reported out the north side of the building.
When Chicago firefighters arrived, fire was breaking through the roof and there was fire out the rear of the 3rd floor. Firefighters were operating defensively by 3:37 a.m. and also at 3:37 a.m. activated a Still and Box Alarm.

An estimated 125 firefighters were dispatched to fight the fire.
No injuries were initially reported, and the 5-6-story building was reported to be vacant. There is a collapse risk to the exterior walls of the building, and most of the roof has collapsed.
Heavy smoke was visible for miles overnight. Winds were reported to be Northeast about 3-5 MPH and North at 6 MPH at Midway International Airport. Smoke appeared to be moving northeast to southwest locally at the fire scene. The West Pullman, Pullman, Morgan Park neighborhoods are most likely affected by smoke from this fire — along with the suburbs of Blue Island and Calumet Park.
