Looking forward to a good drying out with summer-like sunny, windy weather this afternoon. The NWS does not expect convection or storms to develop this afternoon. The rain has already stopped in downtown Chicago, and the trailing edge of cloud cover as at Kane County — coinciding with the end of storms visible on radar at 12:10 p.m. Temperatures are expected to peak at 82°F about 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with winds gusting to almost 30 MPH from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows a line storms at 12:10 p.m. running in series from Kane County, McHenry County, Lake County, and northern Cook County out to Lake Michigan. The storms are also diminishing as the push eastward toward Lake Michigan.
After this AM's showers & embedded t-storms, aftn will be mostly rain-free. Then this eve-overnight, couple rounds of scattered t-storms possible, though it's uncertain exact areas that will be impacted. Risk for isol'd strong-severe storms (wind & hail). Stay tuned. #ilwx #inwx pic.twitter.com/BWcx2NFwNg
