Algonquin police, Kane County Sheriff’s deputies and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:45 PM Wednesday May 29, 2019 to a report of a worker trapped under a Bobcat excavator on Lundstrom Lane just west of the intersection of Route 31 and Lundstrom Lane Algonquin, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find that a man was seriously injured and trapped under a Bobcat excavator
Fire command activated a MABAS Division 5 Box Alarm on Box #5 for a Technical Rescue for a “Confined Space” for the worker that was trapped.
Flight or Life was also requested to the scene.
The injured male was extricated by 8:05 p.m., and was transported by a Flight for Life medevac helicopter to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
The accident involving an excavator was the third serious accident involving an excavator in McHenry County or Kane County in the month of May 2019. A man was working on the Main Street bridge over the Crystal Lake Outlet tributary to the Fox River, just west of the Fox River and just southwest of Algonquin Road intersection when he was pinned between the excavator equipment and a concrete Jersey barrier on Tuesday May 21, 2019. He was released by construction workers on the scene, and was no longer trapped when firefighter/paramedics arrived. He was transported and treated by Flight for Life with life-threatening injuries to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center. A Rochelle man was killed on Leech Road near Coral Road in unincorporated Union, Illinois when he was struck by a tree that fell on the excavator that he was operating on Saturday May 4, 2019. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
