Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:04 p.m. Monday May 13, 2019 to a report of a person hit by a car at the Speedway gas station, 404 East Dundee Road.
Police and firefighter/paramedics on arrival discovered a 70-year-old woman lying on the ground with a head injury after she was struck by a car. The incident involved a domestic dispute that occurred at the Speedway gas station at the northeast corner of Dundee Road and Hicks Road.
The 70-year-old woman was transported by Palatine firefighter/paramedics to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment.
Police investigating the incident collected witness statements and evidence at the scene, and discovered that the 70-year-old was among several people involved in an altercation in the gas station parking lot. Police said the woman was struck by a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old woman who was attempting to leave the gas station.
Palatine Police patrol and investigative personnel are investigating the case which appears to be a domestic related incident. Initially there were no charges, but police have classified the incident as a battery investigation.
