The most likely time for a good round of lightning and thunder is about 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Wednesday in the northwest suburbs. Periodic rain and thunder may continue until about 5:00 a.m. Total rainfall should be less than an inch.
There’s a warm front in the area near Peoria with a big temperature contrast this afternoon. Waukegan was 47°F while Paxton, Illinois was 80°F. Chicago’s NWS station at O’Hare reported the highest hourly reading of 67°F at 7:51 p.m. Overnight the low will be 60°F from about 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. Tomorrow’s high will reach 66°F at 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows a strong line of storms that could arrive in Arlington Heights and the northwest suburbs by 8:50 p.m. The line of storms has produced a Tornado Warning south of Interstate 80 near Interstate 39. The line of storms passed through half of McHenry County and entered Kane County’s western boundary at 8:18 p.m.

Thursday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 7am, then a chance of showers between 7am and 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66. South wind around 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
