On Saturday May 18th, 2019 from 9:00am-2:00pm, Savarino Salon & Spa in Arlington Heights, presented a special “day of beauty” appointment at the business on South Arlington Heights Road to very deserving contest winner. Shawna Lochner was secretly nominated by her friend Anna Neri, and was selected as the winner from a group of nominated candidates.
According to Savarino Salon & Spa, “Shawna’s single Mom’s story will blow you away and inspire you to give more of yourself.” Shawna has four children — one with Down syndrome and another with an autoimmune medical condition. She was recognized for being completely involved in helping the lives of her children. Shawna was also recognized for continually giving to her community by volunteering in many areas. She is the PTA president of Collins Elementary School, Assistant Coach of her kid’s baseball, soccer, and basketball teams; and remember, “she’s a single mom doing it all on her own.”
Savarino Salon & Spa decided it was time to launch this makeover contest as it was pressing on some hearts for some time now. The salon’s reason is simple: to make a difference in someone’s life in a deeper way by treating them to all the things we do best, hair, nails, and skin in one day as well as coordinating some gifting from local businesses. Savarino Salon & Spa reported the “day of beauty” candidates’ stories regarding why they were deserving of this makeover were amazing, and it made it very difficult to choose. Stories of selflessness in the form of volunteer work, “no questions asked” when help is needed, sacrificing everything for their children, and so much more. The salon and spa business asked (and decided), “what better time of the year around Mothers Day than to treat and showcase an amazing Mom.”
