Des Plaines police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:19 PM Monday May 13, 2019 to a report of students on a school bus exposed to eye irritant spray dispersal at Church Street and Capitol Drive Des Plaines, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that
MABAS Division 3 EMS Plan 1 on Box #3 for eye irritant spray dispersal on a school bus (MACE or Pepper Spray).
EMS Plan 1 activated at 3:28 p.m. for 12-14 exposures to pepper spray.
Eleven total transports to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. There were 52 students on the bus; 40 students are OK, and 12 were exposed. One patient arrived on the scene and was going to transport their child to the hospital
School administrators arrived on the scene. Eleven patients were transported by ambulance. A second bus arrived on the scene to transport the uninjured students.
