Police near Woodstock activated a search for a hit-and-run driver Tuesday May 7, 2019 about 10:30 a.m. after a marked Algonquin police vehicle was stopped at a red light, and was rear-ended by a female driver on southbound Route 47 north of McConnell Road in southeast Woodstock.
The police officer pulled off onto McConnell Road, but the driver of the vehicle that struck the police vehicle kept on driving.
The police officer notified dispatch of the hit-and-run crash, and a countywide search for the vehicle was activated in McHenry County. No injuries were reported, and initially no damage estimates were available for either vehicle.
Huntley police located the vehicle and the suspect, and made a successful traffic stop. The location of the traffic stop was not released.
Woodstock police charged Mackenzie Seydlitz, age 20, of Lake in the Hills with failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash, leaving the scene of a property damage crash and driving with a suspended license, according to Woodstock Deputy Police Chief Ray Lanz. Police did not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
Seydlitz was booked at the McHenry County Jail on Tuesday afternoon, May 7, 2019.
