SECOND ONE-VEHICLE CRASH WITH CRITICAL, LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES IN BEACH PARK IN 24 HRS
Lake County Sheriff’s deputies and Beach Park firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:00 a.m. Monday May 13, 2019 to a report of a crash in the area of North Sheridan Road and North Ganster Road, Beach Park. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and located a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette with significant damage.
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies found a passenger from the Corvette, an unconscious 27-year-old female of Waukegan, on the ground near the car. She suffered critical, life-threatening injuries, and was flown via Flight for Life Helicopter to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
The driver of the Corvette was transported to Vista East Medical Center via ambulance, with non-life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates the Chevrolet Corvette, driven by a 23-year-old male of Waukegan, was traveling southbound on Sheridan Road. A witness reported the driver was traveling excessively fast. As the vehicle traveled southbound, the driver lost control, crossed into the northbound lanes of traffic, and then drove off the roadway and struck a utility pole and several trees.
The crash is under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit. There is a slight curve to southwest north of the intersection with Ganster Road, where the Speed Limit is 40 MPH, according to Google Street View captured September 2018.
