Tim Conway has died at the age of 85 on Tuesday May 14, 2019 at 8:45 a.m. in the Los Angeles area. Conway’s rep Howard Bragman confirmed his death.
Prior to his death, he suffered complications from Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), which is a condition that causes excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the ventricles of the brain. Enlarged ventricles can cause neurological complications, such as gait disturbance (usually the first symptom), urinary incontinence, and dementia. Conway was not known to have had signs of dementia or Alzheimer’s.
Actor and comedian Tim Conway is best known for his work on The Carol Burnett Show, playing an inept dentist, the Oldest Man and Mr. Tudball, whose accent he has said was inspired by his Romanian mother. He was known to ad-lib his sketches — even surprising his scene partners, such as Harvey Korman. Conway won a Golden Globe Award for the for his role in The Carol Burnett Show in 1976, and won Emmy awards in 1973, 1977 and 1978.
The Carol Burnett Show ran from 1967 to 1978. Tim Conway became a regular on The Carol Burnett Show in 1975, appeared as a guest from 1967 through 1974.
At a 2013 event promoting his memoir, What’s So Funny? My Hilarious Life, Burnett, now 86, painted her collaborator as an on-set prankster, and joked that “Tim’s goal in life was to destroy [costar] Harvey Korman [breaking him down with laughter].” “Harvey wet his pants,” Conway bragged, and joked “Harvey never saw what I was going to do until he was actually doing the sketch … As a matter of fact in the dentist sketch you can actually see Harvey wet his pants from laughing.”
Tim Conway, one of the legendary stars of “The Carol Burnett Show” recounts a classic comedy bit with Conan O’Brien.
Conway also starred as Ensign Parker with Ernest Borgnine in the 1960s World War II comedy McHale’s Navy that ran from 1962 until 1966 (See The Dart Gun Wedding and YouTube search McHale’s Navy.).

Conway is survived by his wife Charlene of 35 years, his stepdaughter, his six biological children and two granddaughters. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations to be made to The Lou Ruvo Brain Center at the Cleveland Clinic in Las Vegas, Nevada.
