The calls reporting the huge explosion at AB Specialty Silicones in Waukegan were released May 17, 2019.
Initially dispatchers weren’t sure exactly where the explosion that had occurred at AB Specialty Silicones was located because many people couldn’t place the location of the explosive noise. Some thought a car crashed on their street, and one 19 year-old girl thought a burglar broke into her home.
Investigators are also checking early analysis that indicates more people heard the explosion west of the explosion, compared to people reporting hearing the explosion east of the explosion.
