Arlington Heights female resident Nicole Crook, recently released on parole April 5, 2019, was arrested Thursday night April 18, 2019 in Lisle a shortly after allegedly stealing a car from a fitness center in South Elgin.
Nicole Crook, 31, of the block of 1600 East Central Road in Arlington Heights, was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, driving while license suspended and revoked after her fourth DUI, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Nicole Crook was booked April 19, 2019 in the DuPage County Jail and held on $25,000 bail ($2,500 bond).
Lisle Deputy Police Chief Ron Wilke said the victim in South Elgin reported her 2016 Mercedes C300 stolen about 9:15 p.m. from the parking lot of LA Fitness, 488 Randall Road in South Elgin.
Police believe Nicole Crook took the keys from the woman’s jacket, which was hanging in the locker room at the fitness center.
Within 10 minutes after the car was reported stolen, the vehicle’s internal GPS alerted police of the stolen car’s location. Lisle police were notified that the vehicle was in the block of 1400 Ogden Avenue. Wilke said police discovered the Mercedes C300 at the Mobil gas station at Yackley Road and Ogden Avenue. Nicole Crook was in the driver’s seat of the Mercedes. The Mobil gas station in Lisle is located about 22 miles from the LA Fitness Center in South Elgin. Nicole Crook was arrested and taken into custody.
Crook has a criminal history involving several DUI convictions and an ammunition conviction and was incarcerated at the Logan Correction Center with a projected discharge date of April 6, 2019. She was released from prison on parole, April 5, 2019 after serving six years for attempting to bring ammunition into a penal institution in Logan County, aggravated DUI (4-9 times), and driving with a revoked license in Winnebago County. Her initial incarceration for her second DUI and conviction of driving while her license was suspended and revoked was in July 2007.
Nicole Crook is described as a female/white 5’1” 131 LBS with numerous tattoos an body piercings.
Nicole Crook is scheduled to be arraigned by Judge George Bakalis on May 10, 2019.
