Cary Fire Protection District firefighter/paramedics and Cary police responded about 6:36 p.m. Sunday April 7, 2019 to a report of a house fire on Fairfield Lane near Merrimac Street in Cary.
The first crew arrived at the scene at 6:36 p.m. and reported smoke showing from a tri-level ranch house with the occupants evacuated outside. The residents told fire crews the fire was in the upstairs kitchen and that everyone was out of the house.
The fire was extinguished with a single hose line within 15 minutes of the arrival of firefighters.

While a woman was cooking, a grease fire suddenly spread from the stove to the wall and cabinets. The woman, her husband and two children were able to evacuate safely on their own.
Fire damage was contained to the kitchen area, but the house sustained smoke and water damage. No residents or firefighters were injured, according to Cary Fire Protection District.
