Air temperature started dropping about 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night as the cold front moved in to northern Illinois. Chicago’s O’Hare official National Weather Service observation was 61°F at 7:51 p.m. and 44°F at 9:51 p.m. bringing a wind chill of 35°F with winds North at 24 MPH and gusts to 36 MPH. Wednesday’s high will only reach 40°F late from about 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with light rain, and maybe snow accumulation in Lake County and McHenry County. There’s a Low Pressure center lurking nearby over Iowa, which might affect arthritis sufferers.
Thursday we’ll see a sharp rise in the air temperature up to a high of 61°F from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thundershowers are possible in the northwest suburbs, but more severe storms may affect southern suburbs.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows thundershowers and precipitation moving northwest to southeast in northwest and west-central Illinois. Air temperature in Peoria near the line of storms was 61°F at 9:54 p.m.
