‘Sunday Morning Futures’ takes an in depth look at the crisis on our southern border.
Live Sunday morning April 28, 2019, Maria Bartiromo joined the US Border patrol agents from the El Paso station, 9400 Viscount Suite 104 in El Paso, Texas. The area of the southern border consists of 11.4 miles of land and the Rio Grande — sometimes dry river.
Cubans, Guatemalans, El Salvadorans, Nicaraguans — people from the northern triangle region — were mentioned as currently the most common people observed and contacted crossing the border.
El Paso is directly across the border from Ciudad Juárez — a city known for violent clashes in the Mexican drug war, when violence peaked in 2007 and homicides began to decrease in 2010.
There are four international points of entry connecting Ciudad Juárez and El Paso, including the Bridge of the Americas, Ysleta International Bridge, Paso del Norte Bridge and Stanton Street Bridge.
