Cook County open heart surgery patient Miguel Villagomez thanks the Cook County Health System and staff for saving his life at new Arlington Heights Health Center.
Cook County Health staff members and several members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners were proud to reveal the new Arlington Heights Heath Center at 3250 North Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights. The center is considered a flagship, not necessarily for its floor plan, but for the way it efficiently delivers health care and the services it offers in a community-based center. The Arlington Heights Health Center is the first community-based center to be refreshed, and opened in January 2019. Today, Friday April 12, 2019, was the ribbon-cutting ceremony located on Arlington Heights Road south of Dundee Road.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle led the conversation, including details and staff introductions by Cook County Health CEO Dr. Jay Shannon. The presentation described the history of getting to the point of opening a brand new 25,000 square foot outpatient facility that includes 25 exam rooms, dental space, a pharmacy, counseling and an on-site lab. The patient care team includes bilingual Spanish-speaking staff members.
While Dr. Jay Shannon mentioned the importance of having an efficient facility for staff, he emphasized the importance of building a facility for the patients.
The highlight of the presentation was the emotional thanks given by open heart patient survivor Miguel Villagomez, of Palatine, who said, while fighting back tears, that the Cook County Health system and staff saved his life.
