Chicago police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:40 PM Monday April 8, 2019 to a report of a crash with multiple injuries on the outbound Kennedy Expressway 41.882979, -87.645523 (Kennedy Expressway and Randolph St Chicago, Il). Illinois State Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find a semi-trailer truck and at least one passenger car involved in a crash.
An EMS Plan 1 was requested on orders of Engine 1’s crew at 5:45 p.m. Then Engine 1’s crew requested an additional two ambulances above the EMS Plan 1 at 5:46 p.m. for a total of seven ambulances.
A28, A1, A65, A44, A41 and two other ambulances were on the scene. The Lake Street exit was used to transport patients off the Kennedy Expressway. At least one patient was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and six patients were transported to Stroger Cook County Hospital.
The outbound Kennedy Expressway was shutdown during rescue operations.
The EMS Plan 1 was secured at 6:09 p.m.
Multiple Waze users reported the crash.
