Bolingbrook chased a suspect into Naperville after a Bolingbrook police officer was hit by the suspect’s vehicle while the police officer was at a crash scene. The police officer was struck while working at the scene of a fatal motorcycle crash at Boughton Road and Weber Road in Bolingbrook. Officials said the driver went around emergency vehicles, struck the officer, and then fled the scene. Police officers chased the suspect into Naperville where the case ended at Washington Street and Naper Boulevard where one of the police officer’s vehicles and the suspect’s vehicle crashed. Shots were fired at the end of the chase, but initially police did not provide any details about the shots fired. Four people were transported by firefighter/paramedics to area hospitals.
The Bolingbrook police officer was listed in “stable condition” according to officials. Initially it was unknown if anyone was struck by any bullets. Per protocol, police officers are transported to the hospital if police officers fire shots and a suspect is struck by bullets.

The end of the chase occurred in a residential neighborhood on Washington Street between Naper Boulevard and River Woods Drive — just about one mile north of the fatal crash scene. At the scene at the end of the chase a black Hyundai sedan was visible with three bullet holes in the windshield.
At 10:40 p.m. Washington Street remained closed between Naper Boulevard and Washington Street during investigation. Also Boughton Road remained closed just west of Weber Road.
