Northbound lanes (inbound) of the Dan Ryan were closed Monday afternoon near 35th Street following a semi truck fire, Illinois State Police said.
Chicago firefighters, Illinois State Police troopers and IDOT responded about 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon March 25, 2019 to a fire involving the tractor “cab” of a semi-trailer truck that was parked near the outer shoulder of the inbound Dan Ryan near 35th Street. The cab was fully involved with fire, and the cab completely destroyed.
The inbound was shut down at 39th Street; the fire may have been closer 37th Street than 35th Street.
Engine 19’s crew was on LaSalle Street to feed a hose line to fire equipment on the expressway.
An engine company (Engine 19) and truck company (Truck 11) were on I-90/94 local lanes with the truck fighting the fire. Battalion 2 was in command.
A Level I Hazmat was activated for a diesel fuel leak from the semi-trailer truck.
