The identity was released Sunday March 17, 2019 of a 16-year-old girl killed that was killed in a head-on crash when another teen driver crossed the center line is McHenry West High School student Danielle Thomas.

Danielle Thomas was pronounced dead at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Lake Barrington from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash Friday night that occurred about 10:15 p.m. March 15, 2019 on Route 12, just south of Case Road in Wauconda.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said Sunday.
According to Wauconda Police Department, Danielle was driving a Ford Focus north on Route 12 when the driver in a southbound Hyundai Elantra crashed head-on into Danielle’s after crossing over into the northbound lanes.
Danielle Thomas was extricated from her Ford Focus, and transported to Good Shepherd, where she was pronounced dead.
Four other teens were also injured in the crash. While traveling with Danielle Thomas, a 15-year-old girl and a 14-year-old were injured in the crash. Another 14 year-old female teen was also in Danielle’s car. She was transported to Northwestern McHenry Hospital in McHenry, treated, and released.
The Hyundai’s driver, an 18-year-old male driver from Cary identified as Caleb R. Rohrbach, was also transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital after he was extricated from his Hyundai Elantra.
The conditions of all the hospitalized teens were not initially released.
Wauconda police and the Major Crash Assistance Team are investigating the crash following an on-scene investigation that closed US near the scene overnight Saturday/Sunday.
Charges are pending.
