Get your electronics recycled and documents shredded at the annual Spring Sweep event organized by the Village’s Special Events Commission and held on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. – Noon at the Arlington International Racecourse, 2200 W. Euclid Ave. The electronics recycling is sponsored by the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC).
Please enter the Racecourse parking lot area from New Wilke Road, located between Northwest Highway and Euclid Avenue.
The event includes the recycling of electronics (see below for a list of acceptable items), document destruction (up to six legal file-sized boxes or paper bags per vehicle) and the collection of old, usable bikes. Residents from Arlington Heights and residents of any SWANCC communities are eligible to participate. Electronics and documents from businesses, schools or institutions will not be accepted. Here is the list of SWANCC member communities.
The document destruction and electronic recycling activities are a great way to do a spring cleaning of your home and safely dispose of old electronics and personal documents that will protect yourself from identity theft threats. Documents can include medical forms, bank statements, personal files, retired tax forms and more. Please remove any metal clips or metal/plastic binders before dropping off your documents. Do not place your paper for shredding in plastic bags before dropping off.
As residents drive up in their vehicles, workers will remove boxes/bags of paper documents and electronic items. Documents will be placed in a cross-shredding machine on site. The electronics will be collected by COM2 Recycling Solutions. Their process concentrates on reuse and de-manufacturing electronic equipment for raw material value. For more information, visit com2recycling.com.
Thanks to Arlington Racecourse for the use of their parking lot and special thanks to Bartlett Tree Experts, First Midwest Bank and Wells Fargo Advisors, the Premium Sponsors of the Special Events Commission who make this worthwhile event possible.
