Meet Dr. Leah Tatebe, Dr. Caroline Butler and Dr. Victoria Schlanser, Trauma Surgeons at Cook County Health’s Stroger Hospital, a Level I trauma center that is among the busiest in the nation with more than 5,000 patients treated each year, which includes 950 victims of gun violence. Cook County Health’s Stroger Hospital reports that these three women contribute to the trauma team’s standard of excellence that ensures optimal patient care of the critically injured through a multi-discipline approach that emphasizes prevention, education and research. Because of the unit’s high standard of care and the volume of patients, Dr. Tatebe, Dr. Butler and Dr. Schlanser are also part of the Cook County team that trains U.S. Navy surgeons and corpsmen to treat combat injuries.
