Rockford police and other law enforcement agencies responded about 9:15 a.m. Thursday March 7, 2019 to an “active shooter situation” near the Extended Stay America, 747 North Bell School Road after task force agents were serving a warrant. The suspect shot at agents, and hit an agent in the head. Police initially asked drivers to avoid Bell School Road.
A news brief was conducted by Rockford Police Department at 10:45 a.m.
A task force agent was shot in the head while serving a warrant with other law enforcement agents at the hotel, and the suspect exited a window at the hotel.
A suspect is at large wanted for attempted murder of a police officer
Suspect: Floyd Brown, male/black, age 40-45 armed with a rifle or AK-47.
Possible Suspect’s Vehicle: A light blue or silver Mercury Marquis
Possible License Plate: BF 13112 or a temporary plate 485 0256
The suspect is possibly surrounded near Lincoln, Illinois where I-55 southbound is shut down just northeast of I-55 near the 132 Mile Marker. Police have surround a vehicle that drove into a creek as it was being followed by police.
Lincoln, Illinois is about 164 miles south of Rockford and about a 2.5 hour trip.
