Arlington Heights and the northwest suburbs are expected to get about 0.5 inch of rain between 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 5:00 p.m. Thursday. The nearby counties of Lake, McHenry, and Kane and more counties west are under a Winter Weather Advisory.
Widely scattered thundershowers or thunderstorms could occur overnight and during the day Thursday. Thursday is expected to reach a high of 40°F about 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a sharp drop in temperatures beginning about 2:30 p.m. Expect a temperature of 26°F by 8:00 p.m. and 18°F by midnight Thursday/Friday. The morning low Friday morning is forecast to reach 7°F about 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. There might be a brief burst of snow at the end of the rain period at about 5:00 p.m.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows scattered showers and possibly thundershowers in northern Illinois moving from southwest to northeast. Some freezing rain and snow is indicated in the Rockford area and northwest McHenry County.
