LESS THAN 1 INCH SNOW ACCUMULATION EXPECTED WEDNESDAY MORNING
Quick snow about 3:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. with accumulation of 1.0 to 1.5 inches. Precipitation will be mixed from about 6:00 a.m. to noon Wednesday with some ice accumulation. Precipitation will change to all drizzle by about 12:00 p.m.
UPDATE: Significant snowfall did not begin until after 4:00 a.m. Radar showed a “hole” of no precipitation over Arlington Heights and the northwest suburbs overnight. Also, the snow/no-snow edge sat approximately over Lake Cook Road, with greater snow amounts in Lake County and McHenry County and lesser snow amount south of Lake Cook Road. While there may be some intense snowfall, the snow is not likely to accumulate more than an inch as the snow turns to freezing drizzle and then drizzle in the Arlington Heights area.
At 5:50 a.m. there was no accumulation of snow on black asphalt, and there was about 0.125 inch accumulation of snow on concrete surfaces. Significant snowfall may end by 7:00 a.m.
Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows snow in central Illinois and northwest Illinois, that is not making much progress toward Chicagoland at 10:30 p.m.
